Barnwood Park School
Local businesses are supporting our Gloucestershire schools!
Barnwood Park School's Careers Fayre was held on Friday 19th November 2021.
Year 10 and 11 students spent the afternoon interacting with local employers including the NHS, Kier, Renishaw, EDF, Gloucester Services, Dowty, apprenticeship providers, local sixth forms and colleges.
The hall was buzzing with excitement and the students benefited from talking to the contributors!
Kohler Mira said they were really impressed with engagement from the students.
Kier commented “it was fantastic to be a part of Barnwood Park’s Careers Fair by representing Kier Construction and sharing the different opportunities within the Construction industry. As a young employee of Kier, I have a passion for helping the younger generation find a career path that they’re interested in! I want to say a massive thank you to the Staff at the school for their hospitality! Kier wishes the students all the success in the future with their careers and hopes they choose Kier as a company to work for”.
The students felt “the Careers Fair had a positive impact on my understanding of the options for my future. It gave me the encouragement and motivation to reach for my goals. The Employees and staff were helpful and easy to talk to. They were able to answer all of my queries” (Olivia Kizelbach, Year 11).
Riley Roberts in Year 10 added “I found Barnwood Park’s Careers Fair really useful as I was able to chat to employees from well-known local companies. It made me realise that there are more options in Gloucestershire than just going to College!”.
This event, like many others at Barnwood Park School, supports the continued development of careers education at the school.
